Wednesday Beer Review Of The Week: Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier

Posted by David on June 17, 2009

I was really surprised by this beer; I was expecting a fruity-tooty blackberry very much akin to Wild Blue, the less than adequate blueberry beer I tried a while back. This beer has flavor and depth of witbier “white” beery with a just a hint of the blackberry flavor, it is easy to tell that actual brewmasters took time to build this flavor profile. The main difference between this beer and another witbier say Hoegaarden is the spice level, the blackbeery flavor did change the way the spices were perceived, but in a good way. I paired this beer with a reciepe that I found at Men’s Health Journal, Mahi-Mahi with Harissa, I love this pairing because you have a sweet tasty beer with a spicy meaty meal.
