I am not a big fan of lagers, this is typically do not drip most North American “beer” because of them are in fact lager style beers. However, I revisited Stella Artois earlier this week and I will say that I was surprised to find a lager with a good taste. While this beer does not have the fuller body that I am used to and prefer, this characteristic is very hard to find in lagers. Stella Artois did have a very rich citrus and hoppy flavor that was quite refreshing. It had a very clean head, that while did not stay long was thick and as I drink the flavor did not end with a bitter taste that is unfortunately another common characteristic of many north American lagers. Since I am a firm believer that any good beer should enhance a good meal, I would have to recommend this beer to meal with light flavors. White fishes in butter and herbs would excellent or with one of my favorite meals pasties. I think that those of you that enjoy clean and refreshing beers should give Stella Artois a try and see if it pleases you as it did me.
