Monday Beer Review Of The Week: Miller Chill

Posted by David on October 6, 2009

Miller ChillSo, I was in hurry earlier this week when I was at the grocery store picking up a few things for dinner and I didn’t have a chance to think about beer style I wanted to try, instead I just grabbed a beer I hadn’t tried. I was mildly surprised by Miller’s Chill, I normally hate most “light” beers because they are light on flavor. Chill actually has an ok taste, though it wouldn’t be my first choice of beer by any stretch. It would be a descent beer to drink on at a party or while out at a social event. Chill has a mild alcohol content at 4.2%, which isn’t too bad for a pale beer. I doubt that I would buy this again to keep in my beer fridge, but I would definitely consider if I was going over to a party or hanging out with the boys.

Monday Beer Review Of The Week: Peroni Nastro Azzuro

Posted by David on August 31, 2009

800px-Nastro_AzzurroThe other night I was out with some friends at Olive Garden and quasi-Italian restaurant for those who aren’t familiar with it. I was looking over the menu and trying to figure out what to order while the rest of the table was talking. I looked at the beer selection and most I recognized and tasted before, but one beer Peroni Nastro Azzuro stood out to me, since I had not had it before, so of course that is what I ordered with my dinner.

I was totally surprised, by the cleanliness of this beer, it has a very smooth taste all the way through with a crispness that is very refreshing. The body of the beer is very hoppy, similar to Heineken except with a more subtle flavor. I didn’t get a chance to pour out the beer in full, but poured a small shot which was a very light yellow in color with very little head (mostly just lacing). The aroma was mainly hopps, but their was also floral and sulfur undertones.

In all, I think that if you like pale ales or lagers this will be a beer to try, you will definitely love it or hate it. I doubt many will see middle ground on it due to its subtle flavor profile, but that also makes a beer that is paired well with a vareity of meals, I would recommend it go with a fish or seafood, its flavor profile will not dominate these more subtle flavors.
