Monday Beer Review Of The Week: D-Light from Atwater Block Brewery, is it D-Lightful?

Posted by Alexis Arlington on July 13, 2009

Atwater-D-LightWhile grocery shopping on Monday I was in the mood to try something new. I searched the refrigerated beer section of our local Kroger for a Michigan brew. I was disappointed to find only one, so I bought it. Being a Metro-Detroiter I really wanted to like it, and I did! This little gem, D-Light, from the Atwater Block Brewery in downtown Detroit is terrific! It’s a very crisp and refreshing Kolsch style beer, perfect for relaxing after a long day outdoors. The flavor is ideal for a “novice” beer drinker and pairs exceptionally well with fare such as burgers, salads and hot dogs, your typical summertime foods. The light hoppiness is also a nice entry point into an IPA for those that typically play it safe with their beer. I thoroughly enjoyed the beer and will continue to purchase it as a “fridge filler”. I’m interested in trying some of their other varities such as the Salvation IPA or the MAI-BOCK.
