Wednesday Beer Of The Week: Beamish Irish Stout

Posted by David on May 20, 2009

For those that haven’t already figured out by now, I am a big fan of Irish stout beers. Beamish Irish stout is one of what is considered to be the Trinity of Stouts; Guinness, Murphy’s and Beamish. I have yet to find Murphy’s though I have heard from several colleagues that it is another wonderful stout beverage. Before I go onto another tagent, let me get back to Beamish, this beer has a wonderfully thick richness to it that is evident when poured, it produces a thick head without being too much. When taking that first drink, you get a wonderful malty and chocolaty taste smell that helps to enhance the wonderful flavors. I would imagine that the flavor profile of this stout would match up with lamb or salmon very well and if my culinary knowledge serves well, these would be traditional meals of Ireland. As I sit here drinking, I must admire the drinkability of this stout, often I find stouts to leave a bitter after taste, but Beamish does not at all; it leaves you feeling very refreshed and good.
