Beer Float … Yes We Went There!

Posted by David on April 29, 2010

I love to experiment with food, I think that it helps to be a better cook for my family and friends, by trying out new flavor combinations and seeing what happens with them. I will admit some have been pretty good and some have been down-right horrible. However, earlier this week I tried out a new take an on an old classic recipe. The Ice Cream Float… but done with one of the Southern Tier Imperial Chokolat Stouts I had leftover from last week’s Beer Review Of The Week. This to me was an experiment that really could have gone either way, “vanilla ice cream and beer….. huh” I think would have been the reaction from those that would have tried it at first. But the sweetness and creaminess of the ice cream really does something fun and tasty with the coffee and chocolate flavors in the stout and helps to mellow out some of the bitter after taste that the pungent stout leaves behind. This is a great recipe and dirt simple to make, you can find the recipe below.

Beer Float:

Ingredients:

1 scoop vanilla ice cream

1 – 12oz Southern Tier Imperial Chokolat Stout (really any kind of chocolate, oatmeal or coffee beer could be used)

Directions:

1. Combine the ingredients and let sit for a minute or two before consuming!
